2017 a little madamhood
In the summer of 2017 Paulina Olowska teaches The Future is Painting. During her masterclass my thoughts started turning around the viewing of a video documentary by William Kentridge in Salzburg Rupertinum Museum. This series of paintings drawings photographs things is the result. The documentary Sophiaville tells the story of the inhabitants of a town in South Africa who were expulsed and send to live in townships. One of the women who was particularly proud of the house she lived in and that had been build by her husband explains how upset she was and wondered if she was really going to loose 'this little madamhood' that she possessed. Salzburg was flooded with tourists, especially the Hohenfestung which happened to be the place of the Salzburg Summeracademy (founded by Oskar Kokoschka). During these weeks I tried to tell a new story made up of old stuff, the old letters of my name make new names, a fresh drawing is looted from it's figures, turists appear everywhere...- madamhood
